Wine for women.
I'm Anthony Dias Blue with the Lifestyle Minute. Most of the wine geeks I know are men. They seem to feel that selecting wine
like changing a flat tire or barbecuing steaks is a task better left to the male of the species. But the fact is, in the United States
women actually account for a whopping 64 percent of all wine sales. They're the ones who most frequently buy wine in grocery
stores and in chain outlets. This makes women a very powerful force in the wine market. Scientists have also discovered that
women have a better sense of smell than men, a fact which might tend to make them better judges of wine. Leslie Sbrocco, a wine
writer based in Sonoma, has just written a new book called "Wine for Women," geared to all those wine-buyers of the female
persuasion. Even though it's geared toward women, this fun, informative book makes a great introduction to wine for anyone. I'm
Anthony Dias Blue with the Lifestyle Minute on WCBS 880.
